How to disable User Access Control (UAC)

To turn off or limit the User Access Control (UAC) within Windows Vista and Windows 7:

Windows Vista

The following instructions are for Windows Vista operating systems. Windows 7 instructions are further below.

Step 1: Go to the Windows Start Menu and select the Control Panel option.

Step 2: Select the User Accounts and Family Safety option.

Step 3: Select the User Accounts option.

Step 4: Select the Turn User Account Control on or off option.

And then continue when asked for permission:

Step 5: De-select the option within the checkbox of Use User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer. To reflect screen below.

Step 6: Click OK to continue and apply the changes.

Note: You may need to restart your computer for these changes to come in to effect.


Windows 7

Step 1: Go to the Windows Start Menu and select the Control Panel option.

Step 2: Select the System and Security option.

Step 3: Select Change User Account Control settings option from the Action Center section.

Step 4: Move the slider to the bottom position as indicated in Red in the picture below.

Step 5: Click OK to close.

Note: You may need to validate the changes to the UAC settings, and then restart your computer for these changes to come into effect.
