Manual uninstall and reinstall procedure

Step 1. Uninstall the software. 

  1. Click Start select Control Panel select Add/Remove Programs (Vista and 7 users click on Programs and Features).
  2. Remove the security suite.
  3. Reboot system.

Note: If you cannot complete step 1 successfully proceed to step 2.

Step 2. End the Processes.

  1. Open the Task Manager by pressing Ctrl + Alt + Delete or Ctrl + Shift + Esc simultaneously on the keyboard.
  2. Click on Processes tab.
  3. Click on Image Name to alphabetize the list.
  4. Locate any of the following processes, and click on each one and end the process. 
  • AuthElementsSvc.exe
  • Authentium.exe
  • console.exe
  • Curtainsysvcnt.exe  
  • Dvpapi.exe
  • nsfx.exe
  • nsfxsrv.exe
  • SBAMSvc.exe
  • Splash.exe
  • Start.exe
  • Syssvcnt.exe
  • Vseamps.exe
  • Vsedsps.exe
  • Vseqrts.exe

Note: The above processes may or may not be present


Step 3. Install Windows Installer Cleanup

  1. Download the file msicuu2.exe located at the bottom
  2. Save the file to your desktop
  3. Run the installer and go thru the installation

Note: Windows vista and Windows 7 users, right click on the file and do Run as Administrator. 

Step 4. Remove remaining security suite entries

  1. Click Start, click All Programs, and click Windows Installer Cleanup.
  2. Remove the following entries if listed when you run the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility.
  • Anti-Spyware (Aluria) [3.000.000x]
  • Anti-Spyware (Sunbelt) [3.00x.xxxx]
  • Anti-Virus (Command Software) [3.000.00xx]
  • AVSDK5 [5.x.x]
  • Authentium AntiVirus SDK [4.9x.x]
  •  Authentium (ACUS) [3.000.00xx]
  •  Authentium Desktop [4.00.0xxx]
  • ESP [3.001.00xx]
  • Firewall (Core 2) [3.001.000x]
  • Firewall (User) [3.000.000x]
  • Netsweeper Parental Controls [3.x.x.x]
  • Popup Blocker [3.000.000x]
  • Third Party Prerequisites [3.0.0]
  • Web Filtering (Netsweeper) [3.000.00xx]
  • Web Filtering (Base) [3.000.000x]
  • Web Filtering (Base 2) [3.000.000x]
  • Web Filtering (Kids page) [3.000.000x]
  • Web Filtering (Rulespace CFI) [3.001.00xx]
  • Web Filtering (Rulespace CFI Anti-Phishing ) [3.001.00xx]

Note: Depending on the version of the security suite you are running and modules installed some of these entries may or may not be present

Step 5. Delete the remaining security suite folders from the hard drive:

  1. Open My Computer, then double-click on your C:\ drive.
  2. Click on Tools, Folder Options, then click on View (Vista and 7 users press the Alt key for this menu to show).
  3. Choose the option: Show hidden files and folders, click Apply then OK.
  4. Delete the following locations of security suite. If there is an access denied error while trying to delete the Authentium folder you will need to disable any security suite add-on within Internet Explorer and proceed with step 5e. If there is no error skip to step 6.
  5. Open Internet Explorer, click on Tools, click on Manage Add-ons.
  6. Disable the following add-ons: AuthPopupBH001.cBHO and security suite popup blocker.
  7. Close Internet Explorer.
  8. If access denied still appears while trying to delete the Authentium folder, kill the Explorer process.
  9. Open Task Manager.  Under the Processes tab, end explorer.exe
  10. Click on File, click on New Task (RUN)
  11. Click Browse. Navigate to: C:\ProgramFiles\
  12. Delete Authentium
  13. Once Authentium is removed, click Cancel
  14. If that did not help, restart the computer and try to delete C:\program file\Authentium again.

  • C:\ProgramData\Sunbelt
  • C:\ProgramData\Netsweeper
  • C:\ProgramData\Authentium

  • C:\ProgramData\Authentium
  • C:\Program Data\Antimalware
  • C:\Program Data\Temp (Search for any folders containing ESPC or related files)
  • C:\Program Data\Package Cache (Search for any folders containing ESPC or related files)
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Authentium
  • C:\program files\Authentium

Step 6. Delete your Temporary Internet Files.

  1. Click Start, Run, type "temp" and click OK.
  2. Click Edit, select All and press Delete on your keyboard to delete all selected items.
  3. Click Start, Run, type "%temp%" and click OK.
  4. Click Edit, select All, and press Delete on your keyboard to delete all selected items.

 Step 7. Empty the recycle bin.


Step 8. Remove registry entries

a. Make a backup of the registry and then delete the following registry keys:




b.  Download and run the file keyremoval.reg below to remove additional registry keys.


Step 9. Restart the computer and reinstall the security suite

Step 10. Escalate the issue to technical support if you continue to encounter installation errors.
