BitDefender detected during Telstra Online Security Installation

If the user has previously installed/uninstalled BitDefender security on their Mac system, the user may be presented with this error upon attempting to install Telstra Online Security:


If BitDefender is still installed on the user's computer, they must first uninstall BitDefender from their system using the uninstaller provided.

If the error persists after removing BitDefender, the issue is caused by BitDefender's uninstallation utility not completely removing all traces of the security software from the user's computer.

Telstra Online Security's installer will check whether or not the following items are present on the user's system to determine whether or not the conflicting software is installed:

  • /Library/Bitdefender Antivirus for Mac
  • /Library/LaunchAgents/com.bitdefender.avod.18.fullsystem.plist
  • /Library/LaunchAgents/com.bitdefender.avp.antiphishing.plist
  • /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.bitdefender.avp.AuthHelperTool.plist
  • /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.bitdefender.avp.UpgDaemon.plist
  • /Library/Bitdefender
  • /Library/Bitdefender/
  • /Library/Bitdefender/antiphishing.bundle
  • /Library/Bitdefender/antivirus.bundle
  • /Library/Bitdefender/common.bundle

If any of these items are present in the system, Telstra Online Security may erroneously detect BitDefender as being presently installed. Remove any files you have located from the above list, restart the System. Reattempt to install Telstra Online Security and proceed through the Installation.
